from Baghdad to the Netherlands

It is now almost a year since I visited Iraq for the first time since 1990 to see my friends from the 1960s and 1970s. Through the Iraqi club Iraqi Travelers Cafe I managed to track them down and renew the contacts. But through Iraqi Travelers Cafe I also made a lot of new friends, such as Sajad Johnny, Salam Altamini, Hussein Atkins, Mustafa Mussawie and Achmed Al-Soufi who gave me an unforgettable stay in Iraq. I traveled with the last two to the north of Iraq, and during that trip we also discussed the political and cultural differences between the Netherlands and Iraq. This interest eventually led to Mustafa and Achmed receiving an invitation for a study program with meetings with members of parliament, with the King's Commissioner in Brabant and with local politicians.
