Talo Potom, IAS, issues clarification on allegations in Yekar suicide case IAS officer Talo Potom has issued a detailed clarification in response to allegations made in the suicide notes of Gomchu Yekar, who died by suicide on October 23 at Lekhi Naharlagun. Yekar had accused Potom and RWD engineer Likwang Lowang of exploitation and threats, leading the police to register a case under Section 194 of BNSS, later adding Section 108 for abetment of suicide and Sections 271 and 272/3(5) concerning negligent or malicious acts related to disease transmission. Potom said Yekar had voluntarily assisted the DC office in field activities during his tenure in Itanagar and denied any form of coercion or personal relationship. He added that Yekar faced criminal cases for extortion after his transfer from Itanagar in June 2025. He added that had blocked Yekar’s number due to pressure from him to help in regards to criminal case. The officer further stated that he tested HIV negative and rejected claims linking him to the deceased’s health condition or personal affairs. Potom maintained that the allegations were baseless and insisted he had no role in the incident.
