George Balasko, the 88-year-old Parma man indicted in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left a mother and her 2-year-old son badly injured last month, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Wednesday. Balasko has been charged with six felonies — two counts of vehicular assault, two counts of failure to stop after an accident, and two counts of failure to stop after a nonpublic road accident. Bond was set at $10,000 with a pretrial hearing scheduled for April 30 in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court. In addition, Judge David Matia ordered Balasko to surrender his driver's license as a condition of his bond and was also instructed not to drive a motor vehicle during the period of the case. Balasko's attorney assured Matia that he will not be getting behind the wheel anytime soon.
