Blackbirds Fledging from Nest

We have blackbird fledglings! The little, two week old Blackbird chicks are fledging from nest! Not quite blackbirds fledging at night, nor singing at night, but pretty amazing that I caught on video, the moment the blackbird chicks jumped from the nest. Literally jumping ship! And what is amazing, once the little young blackbirds, just days old, leave the nest, they never come back! Once blackbird chicks fledge and leave the nest, they typically don't return to hang out in the old nest for a couple of reasons. This behavior is instinctual, a gift from God. The old nest may no longer provide the safety and shelter it once did. As the chicks grow, the nest becomes crowded and dirty, potentially attracting predators or parasites. Instead, the fledglings are driven to find new places to perch, roost, and forage. It's all part of their natural development and survival strategy. During this time, the blackbird pair, both male and female, continue to bring endless amounts of food for the young blackbird chicks! They are all hanging around in my garden on the one next to us. But they stay a foot away from the old nest at all times! So cute and filled with courage are the little blackbirds. So cool to see them literally jump out of the nest.
