This presentation covers the steps involved in planning and planting a large pollinator garden as well as what we have learned about critter control, irrigation, and cooperation with the many stakeholders involved when gardening at a historic site. Kathy Dhundale and Jean Branna are the primary gardeners at the Havens Homestead ReWild garden. Both are graduates of the Suffolk County Cornell Cooperative Extension's Master Gardener program, class of 2022. Kathy and Jean are part of a group of master gardeners who created and/or revitalized five gardens on two Ketcham Inn Foundation sites in Center Moriches: the Ketcham Inn and the Havens Homestead. The gardens include a community vegetable garden for produce distribution to local food pantries, a kitchen garden, an all-white-flower boxwood garden with plants available at the time of George Washington, the Havens Homestead ReWild Native Garden, and flower gardens at the front of the Havens Homestead on Montauk Highway. 🌻 ReWildLongIsland.org Upcoming Events: https://www.rewildlongisland.org/events Blogs & Videos: https://www.rewildlongisland.org/blog Summer Program for High School Students: https://www.rewildlongisland.org/summ... 🐝 Let’s bee friends! #Follow us on… Instagram: / rewildlongisland Facebook: / rewildlongisland #ReWild #ReWildLongIsland #Nature #NativePlants #Sustainable #Environment #Rewilding #gardening
