Not only does it not emit CO2, hydrogen used as energy for fuel cells and other power sources is an effective way of providing electricity and heat. By using renewable energies at the production stage, the use of hydrogen – from its production through final consumption – is considered a way to achieve decarbonization. Japan’s Ministry of the Environment (MOE) is engaged in demonstrations projects to create hydrogen supply chains in various locations that utilize their natural resources. Through this, we are aiming for decarbonization in the future. This video introduces how MOE is demonstrating a regional, low-carbon hydrogen supply chain using local resources of Tomiya City, Miyagi to realize a decarbonized society. Project Title: Project to Demonstrate a Low-Carbon Hydrogen Supply Chain Using Fuel Cells and the Existing Logistics Network in Tomiya, Miyagi Prefecture Primary partner: Hitachi, Ltd. Strategic partners: Marubeni Corp., Miyagi Coop., and Tomiya City
