There's been a lot of conversation lately about Gen Z. The prevailing narrative is that we're lonely, antisocial, and unable to "adult" correctly. I've been seeing these claims everywhere, and as someone in Gen Z who doesn't always recognize myself in that portrayal, I wanted to look more closely at how these narratives are being formed. In this video, I talk about the way media frames Gen Z, how loneliness is discussed in relation to our generation, and why I think that framing can be misleading and harmful. I reference studies, articles, and social media discourse to help ground the conversation and add context. I'm not here to deny that real challenges exist or that loneliness isn't a serious issue. I'm more interested in how generational narratives become exaggerated and influence the way people see themselves and others.
