Driving Greece: EO82 Kalamata - Sparta - 4k scenic mountain drive Taygetos Mountain

We are travelling today through the mountainous inland of The Peloponnese peninsula, at the foothills of the highest mountain from here, Mount Taygetos. We start at the seaside, in Kalamata, but soon start to climb, first through beautiful olive trees plantations, then through The Nedontas River Gorges, until reaching traditional mountain villages, situated halfway on the mountains, like Artemisia. Here there are some good restaurants and accomodation possibilities. From the villages the final part of the climb starts, that brings us after many hairpin turns to the highest point of the road, at over 1300m asl. From here we plunge down towards Sparta, an impressive steep downhill, with views from time to time to The Taygetos mountain.
