5 Orchid care rules you can break & how!

Today we are taking a look at some of the rules we learn as beginners, but then realize we can actually break! ▼▼▼More info bellow!▼▼▼ Now most rules have a good purpose and they have been developed for our benefit. But sometimes things just need to be different to suit our conditions. 1. Only water orchids in the morning - ok but what if we are at work and our orchids are dry? you can water whenever you like, just don;t leave standing water on the leaves, crown and between the leaves. 2. Don't wet Orchid leaves - but what if the orchid is dusty and dirty? you can shower orchids, but make sure the water evaporates fast by providing warm temperatures, fresh air and ventilation. Sterilize new medium - in most cases good brands have already done it for you without degrading the medium. Organic medium should never be boiled, while clay medium can be boiled, baked and sterilized however you want. 4. Pre-soak medium - well depends on the medium. Pre-soaking bark is just useless effort, it will dry again anyway. Moss might need soaking to release it from its compressed state. Coconut husk doesn't need pre-soaking unless it is compressed. Leca can be soaked, seramis absolutely no need. Rinsing clay should be done ting! 5. Wetting medium and roots before fertilizing - This doesn't protect from burns, limiting salt deposits does! Use less fertilizer when you water and dose it more frequently. Flushes help a great deal too!
