Indian Clubs | Suria Akhara GADA Mace Training Ladder Style Training 8kg, 12kg, 25kg GADA Mace This is a video about Suria Akhara GADA Mace Training. All the training is one handed, with each hand doing the same amount of repetitions as the other. The training is ladder style, it starts with an 8kg gada mace, then moving up to 12kg, and finally progressing to a 25kg gada mace. The video footage focuses on the back view, so that you can see the whole movement. I think it with noting the ground (floor) start, where the gada mace is swung between the legs and then flipped up onto the shoulder, or immediately swung. In this instance 360 swings are used one handed, and 10 to 2’s are two handed. Messing with a 100kg GADA Mace I was allowed into the akhara store room, where I spotted the 100kg stone GADA, and the boys decided to pull it out so that I could take a picture. Then bravado took over and they decided to try and lift this monster. Finally during the morning session an older guy came in and started his GADA training with an 8kg and 12kg mace using the one handed method, which shouldd act as an inspiration to all, that age is no limit. I personally started swing a Gada six years ago and I am now 64yo. I have had many comments from last years videos made in Varanasi, regarding the speedo style loin cloth that is worn in this video. The loin cloth is made of a fine cotton and is called a NAGOTA. It is the traditional garment worn in all Akharas. It is 1st August here and the temperature at 9am this morning was 90 degrees fahrenheit, with very high humidity. Now at 11am we have reached 100 degrees fahrenheit and massive humidity that emanates from the river Ganges (known locally as Mother Ganga). Believe me that you will break into perspiration just from taking a slow leisurely walk, let alone any form of hard exercise that will make you sweat, so the NAGOTA is an ideal garment for training. • Indian Clubs | Suria Akhara GADA Mace Trai... www.indianclubs.com.au Paul Taras Wolkowinski
