Our series of video interviews where AboutFACE's Co-Artistic Directors Anna and Paul Nugent pose 5 Questions to leading figures in theatre -- today it's George Heslin. George has been Executive Director of the New York Irish Center since 2020. For 19 years George served as founding Artistic Director of off-Broadway theatre company Origin. In 2008, he founded Origin's 1st Irish Festival, which under George over 12 years presented the work of 150 Irish playwrights and created partnerships with 80 organizations internationally. In 2018 he founded New York's European Month of Culture. George has directed over 80 productions at New York venues including 59E59, The Sheen Center, and The Irish Rep, while for 14 years he has been a member of the associate faculty at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. As an actor, his credits include the Broadway National Tour of Stones in His Pockets and work at theatres including Roundabout, The Kennedy Center and The Old Globe San Diego. His West End Credits include Philadelphia Here I Come, while in Ireland, he was worked with The Abbey, The Gate, Druid and The Lyric, to name a few. His awards include The Irish Examiner/New York Man of The Year Award, The American Dance Federation Cultural Leader Award, The CUNY Award of Cultural Excellence, and in 2011 he was invited to The White House to meet President Obama. #5QuestionsWith #talkingtheatre #GeorgeHeslin #producing
