Louis Myers was one of the pioneers of Chicago blues guitar, who is probably best remembered these days for his time with Little Walter's band in the early 1950s. Louis stayed active on the Chicago blues scene until shortly before his death in the early 1990s. In his later years he sometimes worked with blues singer Willie Buck in Chicago clubs. This clip is from one of those gigs; here Louis performs Albert King's "Crosscut Saw" as he warms up the crowd for Buck. The band includes several other well know Chicago blues artits: Louis' brother Dave Myers on bass, piano player Big Moose Walker, and harp player Little Mac Simmons, plus drummer Jody North. BTW, Willie Buck is still active on the Chicago blues scene, and recently released his first CD on Delmark Records. The camera work is a little shaky, but there are a few local blues celebrities in the house who are shown as the camera pans the crowd.
