*A bit of clarification on how GMRS repeaters use the repeater-input frequency: Virtually all GMRS repeaters require your radio to transmit on the repeater input frequency AND use the correct tone/or code (CTCSS/DTC/DPL, etc). So transmitting on the same input frequency as a nearby repeater without also using the correct tone/code, will NOT allow the repeater to re-transmit your signal - however it may potentially cause garbled interference if anyone else is nearby and trying to make use of the repeater at the same time you are talking. It should also be pointed out that even though these frequencies could be considered "semi private", these are not GMRS encrypted channels and anyone listening will be able to hear everything you say.
