Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) chief executive officer Ng Yat Chung said he took umbrage at a reporter’s question about editorial integrity during a press conference on Thursday (May 6), on the group’s plans to restructure its media business. The question was fielded by a CNA Digital reporter, who asked whether the new structure meant that "the media business will now pivot to emphasise editorial integrity, for example, ahead of advertiser interests". She also asked if it was fair to say that this move came after various initiatives to improve the sustainability of the business had failed, and where the responsibility should lie. The press conference was held at SPH News Centre.
