This is for @JTTCMMN @ClearSparkPH @niyon-judebrian @RemyMatthewMa-new @jeremybarton5577 This rant is about cancel culture — not the idea of accountability, but the way it’s often misused. Holding people responsible for their actions is important, but cancel culture has turned into a toxic game of mob justice, where context, growth, and fairness are thrown out the window. Instead of encouraging change, cancel culture often destroys reputations over mistakes from years ago, misunderstandings, or even petty disagreements. It silences people instead of creating dialogue. What could have been an opportunity for learning and redemption turns into permanent exile — even when someone sincerely apologizes or grows as a person. The wrong uses of cancel culture include: Digging up old posts or jokes to ruin someone’s career, even if they’ve changed. Mob harassment, where online outrage turns into bullying, doxxing, or threats. No room for forgiveness, treating people as if they’re forever defined by one mistake. Performative outrage, where people cancel others just to look morally superior. ⚠️ Disclaimer: This rant is not about excusing harmful actions or protecting people who abuse power. It’s about exposing the toxic misuse of cancel culture that punishes growth and discourages real conversations. At its best, accountability is about teaching, learning, and improvement. At its worst, cancel culture is just public shaming with no way back. What do you think? Is cancel culture being used responsibly, or is it going too far? Share your thoughts in the comments — let’s talk respectfully." Hashtags: #cancelculture #rant #accountability #forgiveness #society #discussion
