GET IN THE DISCORD: / discord Big thank you to T29 Heavy for bringing this story to my attention. Go check out his channel: / @t29heavy In 1970, during the height of the Cold War, a Czech locksmith named Vladimír Beneš did something unbelievable. After being denied permission to leave communist Czechoslovakia again and again, he decided to take matters into his own hands. So he built a ''tank''. Using parts from a Wartburg 311, Aero 30, and Tatra 54, Beneš constructed a homemade armored vehicle in secret. His goal? Break through the border and escape to Austria with his family. It didn’t exactly go according to plan. This is the story of one of the strangest escape attempts of the Cold War, a homemade tank built not for war or ravange… but for freedom.
