In this video, I take a closer look at the Canon EOS 100D, also known as the Rebel SL1 in the United States — one of the smallest and lightest DSLRs ever made. I head out to Lincoln’s Cornhill Quarter and along the River Witham, near High Bridge, to see how this compact DSLR performs for night photography in real-world conditions. Despite being an Olympus micro four-thirds enthusiast, I love trying out different cameras and discovering what makes each system unique. Canon are the market leader in cameras, known for their reliability, image quality, and excellent design — but how does this 2013 entry-level DSLR hold up today? I compare the Canon 100D to my Canon 400D, exploring build quality, handling, ergonomics, and image performance. The 100D features an 18MP APS-C sensor, 9 autofocus points, 1080p video recording, a touchscreen interface, and a handy 2-second timer — perfect for night shooting. However, it lacks a flip-out screen, which can be a downside for vloggers or creative angles. Out in Lincoln at night, I take a series of long-exposure shots around High Bridge, capturing lamps, reflections, and architectural details along the river. You’ll see how well this little DSLR performs in low light, and I’ll share my thoughts on whether it’s still a great choice for beginners, enthusiasts, or anyone looking for an affordable used camera with real DSLR quality. 💡 In this video: Canon 100D / Rebel SL1 overview and history Hands-on review vs Canon 400D Real-world night photography test in Lincoln Discussion of features, pros, and cons Why it’s still an ideal camera for beginners in 2025 📷 Camera Specs: 18MP APS-C sensor ISO 100–12,800 1080p video (24/30fps) 9 AF points 2-second timer Fixed touchscreen 💬 If you enjoy camera reviews, photography trips, and learning more about classic DSLRs, please like the video and subscribe to the channel — it really helps me keep creating more content like this. 📍 Filmed at: Lincoln, England – Cornhill Quarter, High Bridge & River Witham 📸 Camera: Canon EOS 100D / Rebel SL1 🕯️ Lens: Canon 18–55mm Kit Lens -------- Social ------- / dawleylad
