Thousands of Palestinians protested against Hamas in northern Gaza on Tuesday in what appeared to be the largest demonstration against the extremist group since its October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel. A video obtained by CNN showed large crowds marching through the streets of Beit Lahia, chanting “For the love of God, Hamas out,” “Hamas is terrorist,” and “We want an end to the war.” A message circulating on social media called for nine anti-Hamas protests in Gaza on Wednesday, urging people to make their voices heard and reject the destruction of Gaza. CNN has not verified the original source of the message. The protests come as Gaza’s death toll surpassed 50,000 on Sunday, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry, with no sign of the conflict ending. The territory, home to 2.1 million Palestinians, has been under Hamas control since 2007, after the group won elections in 2006 and then fought a brief civil war with Fatah, the faction that leads the Palestinian Authority. Northern Gaza has been devastated by Israel’s military offensive in response to the October 7 attacks. The ongoing war has reduced much of the enclave to rubble, making humanitarian aid deliveries nearly impossible. The crisis worsened in early March when Israel halted all aid shipments following the collapse of ceasefire talks. Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of stealing humanitarian aid to sustain its military operations, a claim Hamas denies. Meanwhile, the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) reported on Sunday that no food, water, medicine, or fuel had entered Gaza for three weeks, marking a longer siege than in the war’s early days. UNRWA warned that each day without food pushes Gaza closer to a severe hunger crisis. 🚫🇵🇸 #HamasProtests #GazaCrisis #HumanitarianAid #UNRWA
