How to EASILY tell the difference between trigger finger and dupuytren's (Viking's hand) In this video, we explore the key differences between trigger finger and Dupuytren's contracture, two conditions that affect the hand but have distinct causes and symptoms. Trigger finger occurs when one of the tendons in the fingers becomes inflamed and unable to glide smoothly through the tendon sheath, leading to a catching or locking sensation. This condition often causes pain and stiffness, making it difficult to straighten or bend the affected finger. Dupuytren's contracture, on the other hand, is a condition where the connective tissue under the skin of the palm thickens and forms nodules and cords. Over time, this causes one or more fingers to bend towards the palm, resulting in a permanent contracture. Unlike trigger finger, Dupuytren's contracture is more progressive and less painful but can severely impact hand function.
