Rather than just cooling, the CC-300H can also heat when the temperature drops below the desired range. This is a 400-count humidor; I've configured it with boxes on shelves towards the top, and drawers below for loose cigars. [01:37] Seasoning Before using this coolidor, you'll need to season it. The quick guide details how to do this with a water trap, but we at Bespoke Unit prefer Boveda humidification. This is more of a foolproof method, as Boveda packs can't over-humidify. Although Boveda recommends one 84% RH seasoning pack per 25 stick capacity, I used fewer. Only the shelves & drawers here are wooden, so I used 8 rather than 16 packs. After seasoning, you can configure the shelves & drawers to suit your needs. [03:24] Functions The cooler's stated capacity is 400 cigars, though this will vary in practice depending on how you set it up. It comes with an analog hygrometer, but I don't recommend using it; instead, upgrade to a calibratable digital hygrometer. A smart-sensor type like the Boveda Butler, CigSor, or SensorPush is ideal. For humidification, as with seasoning, Boveda packs are the way to go. This gives you a more reliable, consistent humidity that doesn't risk accidentally soaking your cigars. With a large humidor like this, you'll need to season your cigars before putting them in. I typically keep them in a smaller tupperdor for two weeks; our article on how to build one is linked above. Overall, the CC-300H looks almost identical to the CC-300, though the back panel is considerably deeper. This extra space houses the heating apparatus. You can lock the humidor with its key, which resembles an Allen key. Controls are simple & straightforward: you can toggle the internal lighting, and raise or lower the temperature. As an electric coolidor, the CC-300H emits a fan sound when running, but it's not particularly loud. So far, I've only used this humidor in warm weather, so I don't know how well the heating function works. If you have experience with this, please let me know in the comments below! [06:52] Conclusion This unit, at $600, is about $150 more than the CC-300, and the only difference is the heating element. If, like me, you keep it inside your living quarters, heating is probably unnecessary. However, a basement or garage may require the CC-300H. The manual warns against extremes of temperature, though, so some garages may get too cold for the unit to handle. In terms of value for money, even at $600, it's still easily worth the quality & capacity of storage you're getting. Would I buy this unit? Yes, though I received this particular unit from NewAir, so my thanks to them! I did buy, and have been happily using the CC-300, though. In the end, it's a coin flip whether you need the CC-300 or CC-300H, depending on your climate & conditions. Whichever fits your situation better, this is an excellent frigidor for a cigar aficionado. REMEMBER to comment! We'd love to hear what you think about this humidor, whether you have experience with it or not. Also, suggest any other cigar storage product you'd like us to feature on Bespoke Unit!
