One of Masbate's Proudest and Most Amazing Sandbars | Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary and Sandbars

The Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary and Sandbars  is the main natural attraction of the City of Masbate, Masbate Province. The sandbar is located about a kilometer off the coast of Masbate Island and is conveniently accessible via a rented motorized boat. Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary & Sandbar boasts of fine white sand and clear waters, making it a popular day-trip destination for swimming. As a marine sanctuary, fishing and other related activities are prohibited here and human access is strictly limited for tourism purposes only. Transforming this sandbar previously ravaged by dynamite fishing into an eco-tourism zone is one of the success stories of Masbate City and its people. Today, tourism provides an eco-friendly livelihood alternative to many local fishermen. Buntod Reef Marine Sanctuary & Sandbar is open daily for day visits. The main cottage serves as the registration area for arriving guests. There are also stores selling snacks and drinks. You are free to bring-in food should you wish to have your lunch here.
