Dear students, in this interview Liza (my student from 2022 and now my good friend, we also happen to live in the same dorm now ahaha) was kind to agree to share her valuable advice about studies at WU BBE and her experience of juggling 2 unis+2 jobs (as a professor reasearch assistant in her uni and at WU)! We have answered the main questions first-year WU BBE students usually ask: How important are the grades? GPA maximizing strategies Laptop: Windows vs Mac Course credit transfer (applies to students who already did some courses at another university before enrolling into WU BBE) And many more! How to reach out to me: Instagram: @maria.teachie ( / maria.teachie ) Email: [email protected] & [email protected] Website's contact form: https://www.bbe-exam.com/ & https://www.wiso-exam.com/ 00:00-00:30 Introduction. Liza. In her final year of WU BBE studies 00:31-01:22 Liza’s current GPA. 1.12. Is it hard to get good grades?. It is easy if you prioritize your studies (e.g., do not work on the side) 01:23-02:09 WU BBE high grades strategy. Part 1. The order of courses You can take courses sooner or later depending for which semester you need a good grade (e.g., if you will be applying for a semester abroad in your 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. semester you can take the subjects you know you are good at before that to ‘fix’ you GPA, apply for the semester abroad, and once you get into your priority partner uni of choice take all the rest of the courses and not worry about your GPA too much anymore Course catalogue: https://vvz.wu.ac.at/cgi-bin/vvz.pl?S... 02:10-02:39 WU BBE: Obligatory courses vs Specializations (of choice) Also, during specializations it is relatively easier to get good grades because you chose those specific subjects to study (willingly!) so you should enjoy what you are learning and as a result invest more time&energy into it 02:40-04:05 Are the professors at WU BBE strict? With grading-yes, with helping out with questions- really approachable! Pro tip: during project courses at specializations where your professors are also your project supervisor they are likely to be more “chill”, for example, they know exactly what is happening in the project and if they know the project partners gave you some inputs a bit later than expected, they are understanding and open to postponing the deadline by a few days 04:06-05:22 Groupwork at WU BBE (you will have a group project in almost every course) 05:23-08:38 What do you need for studying? Laptop? Windows vs Mac? Scientific calculator A few notebooks, a few pens, a laptop of your choice and a scientific calculator is pretty much all you need 08:39-12:06 WU BBE. Course accreditation from other universities There are a lot of links with useful information on WU’s website but you can also reach out to your program coordinator and ask them to help you out in case you are lost Course credit transfer: be aware of time requirements, apparently there is a requirement that your grade for the course from the other university has to be max 1 year old (but please double check this with your course professors/program coordinator) Link: https://www.wu.ac.at/en/students/my-p... Online services for students: https://bach.wu.ac.at/z/stud/acl_user... 12:07-13:43 Was it hard for Liza to mix studies at two universities at once? Yes ofc ahah. Your study strategy. Are two degrees really worth it? Pro tip: an internship can be worth 8 ECTS of free electives. So credits+work experience, 2 in 1 Examples of societes you can join during your studies: WUTIS (finance) Uniforce consulting Etc. This is the more fun part so to say, a lot of good emotions&laughs are being shared here, I am eternally grateful that through my job I do not only help students prepare for the WU BBE entrance exam, but also I get amazing friends out of it! 13:44-14:54 Liza is a smart woman ahaha! 2 unis + 2 jobs (as professor research assistant, both at her uni and at WU!) 14:55-15:40 Don’t be afraid to reach out to professors, they are people just like you! Be polite&nice and people will be polite&nice to you! 15:41-16:18 Closing remarks and a realistic depiction of Viennese weather ahaha!
