Today we will take a walk through the Old Town district of Frankfurt. We start our journey from Konstablerwache and walk along Fahrgasse towards Main. From the Middle Ages until the 19th century, it was one of the busiest streets in the Old Town, carrying all the traffic to and from the Main Bridge. Now, after restoration in 1950, it is a quiet side street. Next, turn onto Braubachstrasse. Braubachstrasse is a street built between 1904 and 1906. It begins in the east of the Old Town on Fahrgasse. The street is located on the site of a former tributary of the Main River, the Braubach, which silted up by the first millennium AD. This is where the street gets its name. As Frankfurt grew, Braubach became a city canal, and by the mid-14th century, Braubach was completely underground. Today, Braubachstrasse is home mainly to galleries, antique shops, restaurants, and the Museum of Modern Art. On the south side of the street is the Remer House project. A significant part of the street is characterized by buildings in the historical style, and buildings from the expressionist and reformist periods have also been preserved. Next, our walk will take us along Paulsplatz, and then along Neue Kräme. Neue Kräme is a street where fairs and trade took place both in ancient times and today. We finish our walk at Zeil.
