When we eat food, the body is nourished. No doubts about that. However, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba tells us, "Jaise Ann, Vaise Mann" (As is the food, so is the mind). That is the higher level nutrition that we should be aware of because the mind determines whether we are stuck in bondage to the world or we are liberated into eternal bliss. What we eat, how we eat and why we eat are all important when we want wholesome and holistic nutrition. Based on the few opportunities I got to dine along with Swami, here are observations on how we should eat our food. Of course, during the course of this Satsang, we touched upon what is recommended to be eaten as well.
