A student’s achievements based in STEMtorship | Chris Provido | TEDxBowieStateUniversity

Chris Provido highlights the impact of STEM mentorship. His undergraduate story was focused on fulfilling two missions: pursuing scientific inquiry and increasing minority representation concurrently. However, his story met challenges that are typical in contributing to underrepresentation in academia. Chris reflects on how our community and its mentors fueled him to overcome these local and external disparities. His success story in realizing achievements will provide evidence of empowerment through the form of mentorship, crediting the communities and initiatives that have supported him. He will emphasize mentorship’s importance through two perspectives, mentor and mentee, to fuel others to value similar relationships for their wellness. Chris showcases his path as a product of torchbearers and now continues to be one himself. This is a story of academic passion and perseverance that was fueled by many and succeeded by one. Chris Provido is a STEM leader, a scholar, and a learner. He strives to empower others with scientific curiosity and nurtures his own diverse STEM experiences.
