2026年3月7日撮影 　「竹迫城」近くにある「竹迫日吉神社」は正治2年(西暦1200年)の創建で、 立派な楼門を構えたこの地域随一の神社です。 　現在の社殿は宝永(18世紀初頭)に再建されたもので、拝殿内に飾られた絵馬は江戸時代に描かれたものです。 　絵馬はどれも見事な筆遣いで、絵師の手によると推測されます 　一部の絵馬は市の歴史資料館にも展示されています。 　また、この神社では、毎年11月19日に高千穂神楽が奉納されています。 　 　神社境内裏手には、明らかに掘りと思われるくぼ地と土塁、そして社殿右手奥には深い堀が残っており、これはこの地にあった「原口新城」の遺構です。 　竹林の中の堀を進んだ先の開けた場所に「合志中部幼保育園」が建ってます。 　さらに進むと「富岡宮本横穴群」の説明板があり、「横穴群」とは「横穴古墳群のことで、階段を降りて「塩浸し川」の川べりに数基ならんでいます。 　この横穴古墳は、河川工事の再発見され、未盗掘だったため、 　多数の副葬品と人骨も見つかっています。 　これらの遺物はこれも市の歴史資料館で展示されています。 　古墳の作りとしては山鹿にある「鍋田横穴群」と同じく、柔らかい凝灰岩(阿蘇の噴火に伴う火砕流などの火山堆積物)を掘り、奥に遺体を横たえる「屍床」を設けてあり、更にこの富岡宮本横穴群では、古墳の入り口を塞ぐ石も残っています。 　Located near Takaba Castle, Takaba Hiyoshi Shrine was founded in 1200 (the 2nd year of the Shōji era) and is a prominent shrine in the region, featuring a majestic two-tiered torii gate. The current main hall was rebuilt during the Hoei era (early 18th century), and the talismans enshrined within the worship hall were painted during the Edo period. All of the ema (votive tablets) display superb brushwork, leading to the assumption that they were painted by professional artists. Some of these ema are also on display at the City History Museum. Furthermore, the “Takaba Kagura” is performed at this shrine every year on November 19. 　 　Behind the shrine grounds, there are depressions and earthen embankments believed to be the remains of a moat, and a deep moat remains on the right side of the main hall. These are the ruins of “Haraguchi Shinjo,” a castle that once stood on this site. At the end of the moat, which runs through a bamboo grove, stands “KousiNursery School” in a spacious area. Continuing further, you will find an information board for the “Tomioka-Miyamoto Horizontal Cave Group.” The term “horizontal tomb cluster” refers to a group of horizontal tombs. Descending the stairs, several tombs are lined up along the banks of the Shiozumi River. These horizontal tombs were rediscovered during river construction work. Since they had not been looted, a large number of grave goods and human remains were discovered. These excavated artifacts are also on display at the City History Museum. 　Structurally, similar to the “Nabeta Horizontal Cave Tomb Cluster” in Yamaga City, these tombs were carved out of soft tuff (volcanic deposits such as pyroclastic flows from the eruption of Mount Aso), and a “reclining platform” for placing the remains is set up at the rear.
