A new entry on the West Midlands rally scene is this one time Stagecoach East London Trident, new in 1999 as part of a batch of 98 to a long and low specification of 4.2m high and 10.5m long. 17050-17062 were new to Leyton, after their initial batch of the 39 S-BWCs, for use on routes 48, 55 and 56. Currently retaining the livery of previous owner Pilkington Bus, it passed to Stagecoach East at Cambridge as part of a batch of 20 in 2003. Most of them gained the distinctive colour coded liveries for the Park and Ride services, this one being two-tone green for Babraham Road. 17054 transferred to Warwickshire in 2007, initially gaining route branding for service 28 Stratford to Evesham, though upon replacement by new Scania E400s in 2010 it transferred over to Leamington for Unibus work. The attractive Unibus livery, which is basically the London version of Beachball, did not restrict it to localised use, with evidence suggesting it even operated in Northampton in this livery, as well as to Redditch, Banbury, Coventry and back to Stratford, before withdrawal on 2016 due to the DDA regulations coming into force. Then saw it acquired by well known Lancashire independent Pilkingtons in 2017, who clearly kept the bus in fine fettle, with it also retaining a full set of the classic Stagecoach Chevron moquette to this day. 17054 remained in use until Summer 2022, upon which Pilkingtons started to replace their elderly Tridents with former Dublin Bus 2005 Volvo B7TLs. This bus was taking part in the Wythall Transport Museum 2022 Twilight Event on 30/10/22 Operating between: Wythall Museum and Alcester Lanes End via Maypole For those wanting the kickdown, see 3:30, 8:52, 15:16 (followed by Higher Speed), 17:01
