St. Figael’s Church in Llanfigael is one of Anglesey’s most remarkable historic treasures—an exceptionally preserved late Georgian church, untouched by the heavy Victorian restorations that reshaped so many others on the island. This simple rectangular church, with no division between nave and chancel, stands on a site recorded as early as 1254 in the Norwich Taxation. The medieval building eventually fell into ruin, but by 1841 it had been completely rebuilt—likely on its original foundations. Inside, the church is strikingly austere and authentic. At the east end, box pews once reserved for wealthier parishioners surround the altar, while the rest of the space is filled with plain backless benches with paddle-shaped ends. One of the most unusual features is the combined pulpit and reading desk on the north wall, with the desk set at a lower level. 🔻 Music by Cyber Pirate Audio – No Copyright Music: / @cyberpiratemusic Original Track: Cyber Pirate - "Emotional": • Emotional Cinematic [No Copyright Music] w...
