Liberal MP Kevin Andrews has been in parliament for thirty years, but many within the Victorian Liberal Party believed another term was a “bridge too far”. Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger told Sky News the Victorian Liberal Party has a “history of pursuing renewal”. The 65-year-old has held the seat of Menzies in Victoria since 1991. Mr Andrews lost his pre-selection battle on Sunday, to former special forces soldier Keith Wolahan. Mr Kroger said the sitting MP was not “beaten by a plotter,” insisting Mr Wolahan is an “exceptionally good candidate”. “Kevin, as good as he’s been, has been there for 30 years looking for another three". "In the eyes of many that was just a bridge too far,” he said.
