Venice, Los Angeles – Friday, December 6, 2024: A multi-agency task force, including Los Angeles Park Rangers, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), and sanitation workers, conducted a focused cleanup operation at the Venice Beach restrooms. The initiative, part of the city’s weekly maintenance efforts, addressed ongoing concerns about the restrooms being used as shelters by individuals experiencing homelessness. The operation prioritized public safety and cleanliness at the popular beachfront. Led by Los Angeles Park Rangers, the cleanup was supported by several agencies, including the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works, LA County Beaches and Harbors, the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, and Clean Harbors Environmental Inc. Workers in protective gear carefully handled hazardous and non-hazardous waste, underscoring the city’s commitment to maintaining sanitary and accessible public spaces. Park Rangers enforced Los Angeles Municipal Code 63.44, which prohibits camping structures and tents in city parks. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) participated in the operation, distributing food, water, and hygiene kits to individuals affected by the cleanup.
