Plugs : Variants of BS 1363, BS 546 and introducing BS EN 60309-2.

Time for even more PLUGS You know you need it, so let's get into today's video with this these, including the industrial plugs! So, what's going on this time? Well, although BS 546 and BS 1363 have already been discussed, they are coming back in this vid, as some variants need to be discussed in reference to arduous conditions, and speaking of which, I will also be bringing some plugs in which, not only are they suited for rough arduous conditions, but, unlike the other two plugging standards (unless they are specialist plugs and sockets of course) the industrial plugs have some ingress protection built in right-from-the-off, by design: I am talking about the BS EN 60309 plugging standard. These were formally known by the following plugging standards: BS 4343, IEC 309 and CEE17. BS EN 60309 replaces these. Also sometimes referred-to as BS EN 60309-2, the 2-suffix is a classification within BS EN 60309 and is not a different or in any way a variant of, or incompatible plugging standard. For the BS 546 and BS 1363 plugs then, there are arduous condition plugs available, and are known by the 'Duraplug' brand, even if they are not Duraplug. The ones shown in this video do not carry any ingress protection whatsoever, and for that, such plugs and sockets like the Lewden types will be needed. As for the BS EN 60309 plugs and sockets, they are available in two varieties of ingress protection. There is the basic IP44 and the (more expensive) IP67 variety. With the IP44 type, it is just a case of "plug-in-and-go", but with the IP67 types, there's bit more of a procedure to follow in order to maintain the IP67 rating. The IP67 plugs and sockets have a rotating sealing 'ring' and it is this ring which seals the plug to the socket and affords the IP67 rating. An IP44 plug can go into a IP67 socket, but without the sealing ring, it de-rates the socket to IP44 level. I would doubt that a IP67 plug could go into an IP44 socket, as the sealing ring on the plug may probably impede the plug's insertion into a socket. Looked-at in this video: Rubberised plugs to BS 546 and also BS 1363, along with a moulded-on BS 1363 plug.
