WGPR 62 Detroit ID/CBS This Morning Promo/The New CBS 62 Promo (December 10,1994)

Short Ident for then Black Owned and Operated Independent Station WGPR 62 used from 1985-1994 followed by a promo for CBS This Morning as well as a promo for WGPR becoming Detroit’s New CBS Affiliate which was shown on December 10,1994 on WGPR 62 in Detroit, Michigan. This was WGPR’s Last Day as an independent station on December 11,1994 WGPR takes the CBS Affiliation on the same day WJBK 2 takes the FOX Affiliation ending their 45 year affiliation with CBS. This was due to the fact that on May 23,1994 when New World Communications signed an affiliation deal with FOX Broadcasting and many of the stations would end their affiliation with the big three (ABC, CBS and NBC) and switch to FOX. Before WGPR took the CBS Affiliation, CBS approached FOX Affiliate WKBD 50 to take the CBS Affiliation but Paramount Stations Group turned it down because WKBD would take the UPN Affiliation and CBS also offered independent station (now MyNetworkTV affiliate) WADL as well. Today WGPR goes by WWJ and is a sister station to CW Affiliate WKBD, Shoutout to Rob McLean for the footage.
