Is Dubai Really Worth The Hype?

I spent three nights in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. I found this city to be pretty cool as the mixture of high rise buildings with desert, beach, and western styles. My perception of Dubai was that you either love it or hate it. A city this large, and this hot for so much of the year, is not your typical backpacker type place. I found that plenty of people were doing remote work there and essentially living in the hostels. There is air conditioning everywhere so you barely need to feel the heat. I went in August and it was crazy hot, you could barely be outside.
