I love quaint little towns. If you’re a subscriber, you might have noticed that aside from walking the streets of San Francisco, I also go to smaller but charming California towns. I got smitten by Healdsburg, San Rafael, San Luis Obispo, Mendocino and so many more. However, Nevada City is now in the Top 2 of my favorite towns in California. It’s funny because I didn’t even know it existed. I mean I thought Nevada was the state, as in Las Vegas, Nevada, until I chanced upon it when I was searching for California’s less-explored towns. Nevada City has been voted/chosen by Country Living magazine as one of U. S. top small towns. I really had a good time at Nevada City. Also,you’ll also see Grass Valley in this video which is like a twin sister town of Nevada City. Below is an article by Lindsay Weber of KCRA about Nevada City: A city nestled in the Northern California Foothills was recently named one of the top 10 best small towns in the United States. Country Living magazine said there are plenty of attractions that make Nevada City one of the best towns to visit in 2025. Nevada City is rich in history, with the entirety of its downtown preserved as a national historic landmark. The town developed in the 1800s in the heart of the Gold Rush era. Also a draw is its proximity to hundreds of miles of trails and natural beauty in Tahoe National Forest and the South Yuba and American rivers. In its write-up of Nevada City, Country Living also highlighted several small businesses in the area, including gift shop Kitkitdizzi, restaurant Heartwood Eatery, brewery Three Forks Bakery & Brewing Co., the Nevada Theatre and the National Exchange Hotel. It also encouraged travelers to stop by the Firehouse No. 1 Museum. The article also dubbed the Nevada City Film Festival as the "Sundance of the Sierra." Other small towns that made the top 10 list include Madison, Georgia, Sisters, Oregon, Rockport, Massachusetts, Maysville, Kentucky, Lockhart, Texas, Bluffton, South Carolina, Milan, Ohio, Easton, Maryland and Tamworth, New Hampshire.
