(ATTENTION): I would like to let all of you know that if you decide to make this sled and use it for building these wooden christmas trees, I highly recommend using “support/sacrificial” boards behind each piece you cut in order to alleviate any chance of “kickback”. There is a lot of pressure on the sawblade from the pieces following the initial cut and safety should always be the first concern when using any power tools. Especially table saws and chop saws. This sled is very handy and can help you streamline the process. However, please be safe and use scrap wood or blocks behind all pieces following the first cut off the table saws fence. Whitewood Ledger Board from Home Depot to give more of a "weathered wood look" that I ripped down on the table saw. The overall measurements of the board when I put this Christmas tree together on the jig were 3/4" thick x 3-1/2" wide x 8' long. For this D.I.Y project, you can also a 1 in. x 4 in. x 8 ft. Premium Kiln-Dried Square Edge Whitewood Common Board if you wanted to set the jig up the same way. Cut List: 1) Christmas Tree Base @ 10" inches (trapezoid) 4) Smaller Christmas Tree Branches "sides" @ 5-1/8" inches (parallelogram) 1) Long Christmas Tree Branch @ 7" inches (trapezoid) 1) Medium Christmas Tree Branch @ 6" Inches (trapezoid) 1) Christmas Tree Stand at the bottom - " I'm not sure of the exact measurement. However, all I had done was cut it in the shape of a trapezoid at the 5-1\8" mark. The first overlap I had written on the wood block was at 1-5/8". After that, I simply nailed the tops together and set them on the Christmas tree branches so they were even before nailing. *The brad nails I tried to show were 18 gauge and 1" long.
