Very quick video as I'm tired but I wanted to show how I've used a Shelly flashed with esphome to control a zigbee light via home assistant. Usually this is a flawed system as if any device in the chain is offline then the bulb will be stuck on/off In this example, the switch verifies that the bulb has changed state and if it hasn't within one second then the switch will toggle it's relay to provide a fail safe local operation in case of home assistant or bulb fault. The reason i have done this is because I'll be setting up daylight bulbs which will change colour and temperature throughout the day. For this I need smart bulbs, but we want to keep control from light switches. I also may be away for weeks at a time and if guests are in the house and a fault develops then I want minimal disruption to them. Please no comments about the state of the house. I have only just moved in and automation was my no1 priority 😅 Link to the esphome code running on the shelly HERE: https://pastebin.com/h1pjPEwJ Note:- this is a very rough first version and only effects channel 1. Channel 1 operates as normal.
