Join Conservation Nebraska and Dr. Matthew Van Den Broeke, Professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln, for a presentation on radar aeroecology. Weather radar observations can be used to learn about insects, birds, and bats in the airspace. In this presentation, you will receive an overview of how radar works, how it can be used to observe the behavior of birds and insects, and how you can use radar to learn about things such as how many birds are migrating at a particular time. Several examples of recent studies will be presented (for example, the development of continent-scale migration forecasting), with applications to Nebraska. ______________________________________ This event was organized by Conservation Nebraska and with the support of an AmeriCorps grant.
