Civil society's role in delivering the right to education A Global Campaign for Education film about the Civil Society Education Fund (CSEF). This film is about civil society's contribution towards education for all. Mobilisation across countries, increased public debate and participation, more awareness and enhanced demand of individual rights -- this has been possible in 45 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America through the Global Campaign for Education's program -- the Civil society Education Fund (CSEF). In too many developing countries children are living without access to education and adults are not able to read or write. This is unacceptable; especially with education being universally recognised as a human right. Education can lift people out of poverty, bring about protection and stability, promote empowerment. The CSEF has enabled the growth and strengthening of civil society organisations to engage with governments to ensure education is prioritised, and prioritised WELL -- through the implementation of sustainable sector plans, comprehensive policies and sufficient financial resources. In this film you will meet teachers, students, ministers, parliamentarians and activists, working in collaboration to give people the chance to get educated. From Senegal and Sierra Leone, to Latin America, Bangladesh and Vanuatu -- we give you a glimpse of civil society operating in varying contexts and through various means. We see that putting persistent pressure on decision makers actually contributes to change and that mutual dialogue between partners is crucial.
