Dan was undergoing a routine surgery, but when he came home he started to feel a strong pain in his chest and develop an odd taste of metal in his mouth. He returns to the hospital for an X-Ray, which shows a foreign object, forgotten there by the surgeon, who did his operation. Worse come to worse, Dan not only has to have a second surgery to remove the instrument, he also contracts necrotising fasciitis; a potentially lethal flesh-eating bacteria living on the foreign object in his intestines. Dan survives miraculously, but not without physical and emotional scars.
