Aggravated robbery suspect fatally shot by Elyria officer

The Elyria Police Department says an investigation into an aggravated robbery turned into a pursuit involving several agencies that ended with an officer fatally shooting a suspect. According to a release, Elyria officers were sent to the AT&T Store on West River Road around 3 p.m. in response to an aggravated robbery involving a firearm. Police officials say a suspect vehicle was identified and located in Lorain. That led to a pursuit involving several law enforcement agencies that continued into North Olmsted. "While officers were attempting to take the suspect into custody, the suspect presented a handgun and in response to the deadly threat, an Elyria officer discharged their firearm," Elyria police stated in a release. "At this time, there are no reported injuries to Elyria Police officers, assisting officers, or civilians."
