Saplings Nature School

Saplings Nature School is the North Shore’s newest and only BC-certified nature-based elementary school. We offer full days in the outdoor and indoor classrooms, where students learn to appreciate and care for themselves, one another, our community, and our environment through hands-on, student-centered, and multi-age experiences. We take students outside of the traditional four walls and provide relationship building opportunities with our local environment. This allows them to learn with/in and from the living world around them, creating citizens who are community-based, and sustainability minded. Influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach to education and full immersed in BC’s curriculum, Saplings draws its strength from inquiry-based learning to uncover our students’ individual interests, allowing them to develop and expand their passions. We are building our community of learners by developing real-world connections, discovery, and passion, while focusing on interpersonal relationships and emotional intelligence. Saplings Nature School began as a response to parents looking for something different during the pandemic. Our program provided children with a unique opportunity to learn outdoors and we are so excited to be the north shores first nature based independent school!
