Seize the opportunity 🏆 B-Girl Courtnaé Paul is the new Red Bull BC One City Cypher Johannesburg champion 🚀 Meet COURTNAE PAUL: Durban-born Courtnaé Paul is a multifaceted entertainer whose talents encompass dance, choreography and DJing. Her breaking skills are also complemented by her background in gymnastics. She focuses on all elements of breaking, especially power, but views herself as a dancer first and foremost. “As a DJ my taste in music is super eclectic, so it translates into my dancing. I’m super into Afro, so you’ll see that in my top rocks and just the way I read music is a little different. Before I enjoyed music, so it was very funky more style, now I’m dipping into the power a bit more, so I’d like to say I’m becoming an all-rounder.” Her work includes stints at the DSTV Awards, YFM, Heineken and the Sun Met. Today, she continues to expand her experience in work that highlights her passion for music and dance. This past weekend marked the beginning of the world’s most prestigious breaking competition – Red Bull BC One. The 18th edition of the competition had Johannesburg’s best breakers battle it out for a spot to represent the city at the national final. South Africa will host a series of Red Bull BC One City Cyphers this year. Next stops: Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Oudtshoorn. Stay tuned for more winners and talent.
