I feel a lot of the aesthetic lies in the instrumentation; the original track uses a lot of winds and soft brass synthesizers, alongside a guitar-like synthesizer. All of these have pastoral connotations, which I wanted to reflect in the instrumentation I chose here. The track is delicately placed in C major and opens with a slowly falling melody in the panpipes (0:03). This opening phrase jumps surprisingly to Db major – a tertiary modulation from Bb major (0:13), followed by a tritonal jump to G major to create a smooth return to C major. By 0:18, the opening melody repeats, now with the added warmth of strings. Moving into the next section at 0:30, we have another tertiary modulation from C major to Eb major. This is followed by a slowly descending harmony – akin to the falling opening melody – which again complements the aesthetic of a peaceful mountain village with a flowing stream falling through it. Another tertiary modulation appears at 0:45, with C major into Eb major, followed by another tritone modulation at 0:56, moving from Db major to G major. Then at 1:00, we have a partial circle of 5ths sequence alongside a melody that definitely wasn’t inspired by “Fly me to the moon”, as we progress from Am – Dm – G – C – Dm – G. This repeats again at 1:13 with some larger instrumentation, before a finally descending tertiary modulation at 1:26 with G major to Eb major. I was considering about using classical or acoustic guitars, but I ultimately figured that the harp would work better. Though, feel free to add in a guitar! The brassy synthesizer in the original audio was tricky to orchestrate, but I figured the trumpet would be the best option to emulate that sound (obviously without using a synthesizer itself!). -------------------- The score was created in Sibelius 7.5, and the audio was created in Cubase using the brilliant EastWest sample libraries. ★Game: Golden Sun ★Developer: Camelot Software Planning ★Publisher: Nintendo ★Composer(s): Motoi Sakuraba ★Software: Sibelius 7.5, Cubase Elements 7, Adobe Premiere Elements 15, EastWest Sample Libraries ★Tags: Golden Sun, Golden, Sun, The Lost Age, Golden Sun The Lost Age, TLA, GS, Golden Sun Orchestra, Golden Sun Cover, Golden Sun Remix, Golden Sun Arrangement, Vale, Village, Town, City, Golden Sun Vale, Vale Orchestra #GoldenSun #Orchestra #TheLostAge
