British English and American English are two different varieties of English. They are mutually intelligible. However, there are differences in spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. These differences have evolved over time due to historical, cultural and linguistic factors. Dr. Danny Leung, Head of Applied Language Studies in the School of Education and Languages, shares the conceptual knowledge of British English and American English. He also talks about differences in the meaning of words between these languages.
