We can reduce the delay in the ripple carry adder by looking the carry ahead before. The carry look-ahead adder calculates one or ore carry bits before the sum, which reduces the wait time to calculate the result of the larger value bits of the order. CLA uses the concept of the carry propagator and the carry generator. The addition of two 1-bit inputs A and B is said to generate if the addition will always carry regardless of whether there is input carry. The addition of two 1-bit inputs A and B is said to propagate if the addition will propagate whenever there is an input carry.
