The T-80 and T-84 has a lot of similarities, like using the same autoloader system, main gun, and having similar dimensions. However, the T-84 Oplot has a different fire control system, and it has a different transmission system. The early T-80 MBTs had a forward speed of 60 KPH, and a reserve speed of 4 KPH. On the other hand, the T-84 Oplot has a forward speed of 70 KPH, and a reverse speed of 32 KPH. One of the major weaknesses of Soviet and Russian main battle tanks is the slow reverse speed. Even the latest Russian MBTs, like the T-90M has a painfully slow reverse speed of only 4 KPH. The T-80U-E1 has a reverse speed of 11 KPH which is better than the T-90M, but it is slow compared to other MBTs in the same class. Most modern MBTs have reverse speeds of 17 KPH to 35 KPH. Some MBTs have the same forward speed as the reverse speed, like the Merkava MBTs. The T-84 is a Ukranian main battle tank, but Ukraine only has 6 of them in service. The largest operators of the T-84 is Thailand which operates about 49 of them. Only three countries use these tanks. The U.S. bought 5 of them for training purposes, and there were 4 failed bids from Pakistan, Malaysia, Peru, and Azerbaijan. The Ukrainian military didn't have the budget to buy their own T-84s, so it became a export tank. As for armor protection, it has good frontal hull, front side hull, and frontal turret protection. It has ERA(explosive reactive armor) tiles with composite armor underneath the ERA tiles. The tank is a bit wide, and the autoloader is the reason why it is so wide. The autoloader holds 28 rounds in the magazine, and you can fire one round every 6.5 seconds. You can have a loader with 0 experience, and it will still load at 6.5 seconds, because it is a automatic loader. When you use this MBT, you don't need to level up your loader. The autoloader and main gun is the same as the T-80 series of MBTs. It can carry a total of 46 125mm shells, and it carries a number of shell types. APSFDS - 3BM42 - 457mm APSFDS 3BK18M - 550 mm HEAT - BTA4 - 552 mm ATGM : GP125 - 850 mm As for the cost of this MBT, it costs about $5 million USD a piece. This is based on what Thailand bought in 2011, they paid $240 million USD for 49 vehicles. This came out to $4.90 million per Oplot. With inflation, it would cost about $7.056 million. As for the price, it is a fraction of a M1A1, Leopard 2, or other Western MBT designs. It is more expensive compared to Russian or Chinese export main battles tanks, like the MBT-2000, VT-4, T-90M, and T-90SM. It has all the attributes of being a world class MBT, and it is reasonably priced.
