Before the first plank of the Viking 50C could be laid, there was one major problem: no workshop. In this video, I build a dedicated workshop workbench from welded steel, set up power and lighting, and officially open the doors to Flo’s Boat Works. With the workspace ready, I begin the actual construction of a custom Viking 50C RC yacht. You’ll see the full process of designing the hull in Google SketchUp using reference drawings, transferring large-scale CAD geometry onto plywood by hand, and cutting and fitting the keel and ribs that form the boat’s skeleton. I cover material choices, alignment techniques, water management inside the hull, and why planning the structure correctly at this stage is critical for strength, symmetry, and performance later on.
