The St. Thomas More Parish School's Kindergarten class explored the concept of Prehistory all October long and in every subject. Beginning with Dino week, to establish an accurate timeline of human history on earth and culminating with the creation of Petroglyphs on Jr. STREAM Lab "cavern" walls. During Dinosaur Week, there were dinosaur digs, VR experiences, 3D printing, constructions with composite shapes, and Dino dances. Next, Kindergarten brought life to our prehistoric cavern with petroglyphs and pictograms of rhinoceros, bison, and bears; OH MY, wooly mammoth too! Petroglyphs are carved, and pictograms are painted onto stones, such as cave walls or rock cliffs. They contain the secrets of human life on earth. Between spoken storytelling and the formation of written languages was petroglyphic art. Two hundred thousand years ago, humans, made in His image, were inspired to create. They carved and painted animals of the hunt onto the stone walls of their natural cave dwellings.
