Slow death and then repair of our 2011 Panasonic Viera 55 inch Plasma TV (TC-P55VT30). Our tv started having image quality problems that were originally confined to the top half of the screen, then the problem started showing up on the bottom half as well. I researched the symptoms on the internet and figured it wasn't going to be long before it died altogether. My son turned on the TV one morning, heard a loud pop after which it wouldn't turn on. I had spent lots of time on on user boards reading posts that described the same problem as what happened to us. Now by repairs I am talking about taking the back of the TV off, removing three boards, sending them out for repair (website I used is in video) followed by putting it back together again. Complicated yes, but we aren't talking about measuring voltages or soldering, etc... just a bunch of screws a few connectors and ten finicky ribbon cables. The video is general since I made it after I had put the TV back together again. If you search enough before hand you will find all you need to know regarding the details of ribbon cables, etc. The boards on the far left come off first followed by the larger board. The TV has to come off the stand to get the back off but you can hang it back on the stand while you wait for your boards to come back to you... Don't try to adjust the ribbon cables or anything else with the power on as it will definitely end badly.
