What is Sin, Really? In this video, we ask a question the modern Church rarely treats with any seriousness: what is sin, really. Not sin as a catalog of behaviors, and not sin as a system of “degrees,” but sin as Scripture presents it when you read the story straight through. In the Old Testament, sin is often made visible and demonstrative through concrete acts, warnings, judgments, and covenantal markers. But the point of that visibility was never mere moral bookkeeping. It was a prophetic pedagogy, a way of driving the human conscience toward the one thing we cannot manufacture for ourselves: a God-given, public, historical warrant for faith. That is why the New Testament’s “sin” problem sharpens into something more specific than modern moral talk will allow. Beneath the surface, sin is refusal of the Father’s own testimony concerning the Son, a resistance to the revealed truth God has placed in history, in the Oracular Word concerning Messiah that culminates in the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus. The shocking implication is that many sermons can talk about “sin” and “grace” endlessly while never touching the very object those words were designed to confront. We also examine how the Gospels do not labor to prove Jesus as a mere “law-keeper” in the modern sense, but as the One perfectly aligned with the Father’s will, fulfilling what was spoken beforehand. And we ask a pointed question: where is Jesus delivering people from literal “prison houses,” except where the prison is the mind, bound in blindness, accusation, fear, and false worship. What He frees is deeper than circumstances. He opens truth, and calls for confession of that truth. If you have ever felt that “sin” has become either a vague religious mood or a controllable list of mistakes, this episode is meant to recover the biblical nerve: sin is finally against God as He has made Himself known in the revealed Messiah, and faith is the spiritual action of honest examination and confession of that redeeming truth. sin, what is sin, biblical sin, repentance, gospel, faith, messianic prophecy, Old Testament, New Testament, Jesus Christ, revealed truth, spiritual blindness, confession, prophecy fulfilled, Daniel 9, Isaiah 53.
